TANZOLYMP 2018

The International Dance Festival TANZOLYMP is held in Berlin on annual basis under the motto “Dance as a global language“ and gives participants the opportunity to meet other young people from all over the world in master classes, seminars and competitions.

The main aim of the Festival is to support and increase the popularity of dancing. Besides an international exchange exploring the different forms of dance aesthetics and artistic styles, the Festival will provide an insight into the spectrum and variety of dancing. The crowning event of the Festival will be the international gala where the best solo artists, duos and groups, winners of TANZOLYMP and winners of the preceding years will receive the opportunity to perform in front of an audience and respectful judges. For the future it is planned that an International Dance Company will be formed, consisting of chosen participants and winners of the previous year.

ORGANISER

Dear Friends,

a very special event is coming our way with the 16th International Dance Festival TANZOLYMP, inspiring participating dancers to utmost performances. Over the past years the youngest participants, the advanced and the nearly-graduated dancers have all displayed unique creativity and vitality. We can certainly look forward again to this year’s event.

I would like to thank all parents, teachers, jury members and my very important partners whose generous support has enabled this privately financed festival for so many years and make it possible again in 2019. In this way, the TANZOLYMP has become one of the largest dance festivals in the world, developing into an internationally appreciated, exemplary dance initiative.

In a world linked via internet to rapid, global communications, we are still far from being at peace. Therefore, every chance to unite young people of all nationalities and mentalities in a peaceful competition is well worth the effort. Thus, participants come together in mutual understanding beyond all differences, taking this experience home with them, making it a part of their lives. This is the TANZOLYMP’s ambition, the intellectual exchange on the legacy of dance with all its varying backgrounds as well as a pathway leading toward the future.

Best regards and dance on!

Aside from diplomas, trophies and prizes, TANZOLYMP winners also receive the once-in-a-lifetime chance to take part in a variety of courses offered by the partner institutes, national ballet schools from around the world. Ballet company directors are eager to welcome winners to work on the most renowned stages in the world.

During the TANZOLYMP a variety of master classes will be offered, as well as classical, modern, contemporary and folk dance styles. International ballet stars and teachers from the world’s best dance institutes share their ideas and knowledge, giving participants possibilities to try out various choreography styles and improvisation methods.

The master classes take place at the Staatsballett Berlin, Friedrichstadt-Palast and Marameo Studios. All classical master classes are accompanied live by pianists.

The number of attendants is limited. Further information can be found at the TANZOLYMP information desk at the Park Inn Hotel Alexanderplatz.

The participants receive a certificates confirming their master class activities.

TANZOLYMP WORLDWIDE

Over the past four years, as an aspect of the TANZOLYMP, regional rounds have been taking place in various countries around the world. The TANZOLYMP regional rounds first and foremost aim to foster young talents. Among other benefits, regional winners will take part in the final in Berlin at the expenses of the TANZOLYMP committee.

The TANZOLYMP regional rounds in Sao Paulo, Brazil can be described as nothing less than a tremendous success – the next round will take place here in 2018. Directly thereafter, TANZOLYMP looks forward to traveling to Lima, Peru. We are also very proud of our cooperation with Danzamerica in Cordoba, Argentina. The regional rounds in Moscow, Russia will take place in October 2017.

This year, TANZOLYMP has expanded their horizons to encompass new regional rounds in Odessa at the Philharmonic Hall and at the National Opera and Ballet Theater in May 2017. In November it’s off to Italy and to Seoul, South Korea.
